CCCT Holding Auditions for 'Butterflies Are Free'
Cheatham County Community Theater has scheduled auditions for its production of 'Butterflies Are Free', a romantic comedy by Leonard Gershe. The production dates are June 13 - 15, and 20 - 22.
You may remember the hit 1972 movie by the same name, starring Goldie Hawn and Edward Albert as Jill Tanner and Don Baker. Set in Don's New York flat, where he has finally escaped his overbearing mother and his small town life, Don is ready to live on his own and heal his broken heart. His heart was broken by the girl who gave him the confidence to leave and then walked out of his life. He needed such confidence for one reason, Don is blind. Jill is the girl in the next apartment, as wild and pretty as a Butterfly, full of confidence and vitality. Their ensuing affair is full of warm, knock-about repartee. The audience will follow it through the obvious difficulties, from his mother's hilariously catty objections, to Jill's final attempt to end the affair to stop Don's increasing reliance on her.
The small cast of 'Butterflies Are Free' includes the two leads, one male and one female both 18 to 25 years of age. Also one male age 18 to 50 for a small part, and one female 30 to 50 years old.
Audition dates and times are March 29th from 11a.m. - 4p.m. and March 30th from 2p.m. - 5p.m., and will be held at the Jean Downey Theatre, located in the rear of Harpeth High School, 170 E. Kingston Springs Rd, Kingston Springs, TN .
